Dav Beckton promised big things in his big Suzuki, and delivered two big loud bangs as he ripped the top mounts off his suspension during the mud runs.
Dan Hrynyk's Range Rover wasn't as Strange as some, but it was a lot more beaten than most.
Tom Cooper grinds to a halt in deep water in his Samurai, sending co-driver Max Smales out with a rope to await rescue... then putting his feet on the dashboard as the level inside the vehicle continues to rise...
Wayne 'Muppet' Gotheridge wowed the crowd with his Fiesta-bodied special.  Or if he didn't wow them, he certainly deafened them...
Anton Lancaster of NET Garage Services in Derbyshire, brought along an interesting combination of vehicles - here's his first, the Unimog.
They like their Fourtraks down Kirton way.  That could be because you can do things like this to them and they just keep coming back for more!
Chris Windle gives one of Kirton's infamous gulleys a go in his Suzuki.  He didn't make it, and suffered a broken bead on his nearside left tyre moments after this picture was taken.  When he told us he was going to blow it back on its rim with petrol and a match, we were so excited that the editor even gave him a lift back to the campsite to get some.  But then someone turned up with an air-compressor.  Spoilsports.
Fay and Amy spent the weekend getting their first ever taste of off-roading in their distinctively pink Suzuki.  It won't be the last, despite a moderately comical roll which Amy described as 'definitely an experience'
Dave Holland, from Burton on Trent, was the first Suzuki down Lane 2 on the mud runs.
Matt from Scotland sets out to explore one of Kirton's many lakes.  We're happy to report that he has been seen since...

As well as the Unimog, Anton Lancaster's second vehicle was this Fiat Siecento/RR Hybrid.

Ian Gait turned up in his Patrol GR for his first experience of Kirton, and got it well bogged commendably early on Saturday morning.
Ian Underwood and family provided a first for Kirton by turning up in their Volvo XC90.  Having first explored the shiny-friendly route, then taken on the tougher red routes, he decided to start going off-piste proper - and by choosing his lines judiciously, he piloted his so-called soft roader through the lot with nothing more than a little ding in one of its side steps.  Welcome to our world, squire.
Dave Pettinger and James Jennings are co-owners of this hefty looking Hi-Lux.  We're not sure which of them is responsible for the cow horns, but deep, wet, muddy action is never far from whoever's behind the wheel...
Dean Stepan bought his Terrano as scrap, cut off the back body and welded in a cage - then proceeded to drive it absolutely anywhere.  The tunnel took a lot of tries, including one which came perilously close to giving that cage a workout.
Definitely a highlight of the weekend, Sunday afternoon saw almost fifty drivers queuing up to go head-to-head in Kirton's dragstrip-style mud runs.
Craig Burley brought his 90 from Huddersfield to see what Kirton's all about, and spent all day on Saturday taking on every obstacle he could find.
John Locke brought his NCF Blitz from Glasgow for his third visit to Kirton.  'Instant idiot: just add mud' it said on his spare wheel cover.  Sir, we like your style.
Lucy Ward's attempt at the blind-drive competition in her Blitzworld 650 'Mud Magnet' was ended by a lack of articulation.
Martin Hoey's Hi-Lux blitzed Lane 2 to win the mud run event.  His secret?  Plenty of torque from an uprated engine, and a set of 9.00x16 tyres from a Land Rover 101.

Who needs a bouncy castle when you've got a bouncy Titanic?
Unfortunately, Oasis broke up the day before the show started.  But local covers band US filled in brilliantly - when did you last see dancing, and indeed on-stage mooning, at an off-road event?  Talking of the stage, big shout to JW Cousins & Sons, who loaned us a curtainsider for the band to play in.
Saturday night's bonfire was still smoking away by Sunday evening.

Fun in the sun... and in the mud...
